Food Programs
The YMCAs food program works to combat food insecurity in areas that face food inequities due to lack of access and economic disparities. Together, we can share in our efforts to strengthen the foundations of community by fostering youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Food Programs
The YMCA of Greater Louisville is committed to ensuring the youth we serve have access to nutritious meals through our five licensed kitchens at our Child Development Centers, YMCA Safe Place Services, and Camp Piomingo. We also partner with Jefferson County Public Schools and Dare to Care to distribute healthy, well balanced meals to thousands of youth daily.
The YMCAs food program improves access to healthy food by collaborating with local food programs, consistently improving our balanced menus, and creating nutritional education activities.
We implement and sustain Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards. Our food programs utilize USDA meal pattern guidelines and income eligibility statistics to increase access to nutrient sufficient meals and nutritional enrichment activities.
