Summer is the perfect time to explore new interests and discover hidden talents. Campers will spend their day being physically active, experience success, become more confident, unplug from technology, develop lifelong skills, grow more independent, learn social skills, reconnect with nature and make friends.
Camp Intro
Children will have the opportunity to make their summer active and fun through crafts, sports, indoor and outdoor games, new friends and other fun ways to discover who they are. Although still structured, YMCA Summer Camps are more relaxed than the school routine and offer time and freedom for spontaneous play.

At a Glance

Kermit Camps
Ages 4-5
Our camps provide a safe and nurturing environment where children have fun, make new friends and explore new activities! All camp activities are created around exciting weekly themes with an emphasis on building confidence, self-reliance, problem solving skills. With the Y, you can be assured that your child will have a positive environment to play, learn and grow. We will go on one field trip a week and one on campus experience a week.
Explorer Camp
Ages 6-10
Our camps provide a safe and nurturing environment where children have fun, make new friends and explore new activities! This summer, Explorer campers will run, play, and explore, all in a safe and positive environment that emphasizes problem-solving skills, self-reliance, and self-confidence.We will go on two field trips a week, with one of those going to an Aquatic Center.
Horizon Camps
Ages 11-13
Campers will be taking 4 field trips each week. One of those field trips will be traveling to Kentucky Kingdom once a week. Campers will help plan and choose which field trips they want to go on each week. They will also learn important life skills such as basic cooking skills. Campers will be expected to demonstrate and develop YMCA Character Values At Camp, we focus on promoting attitudes of Caring, Respect, Honesty and Responsibility.
Leaders In Training
Ages 14-16
The Leaders In Training (LIT) Program at the Oldham County Family YMCA provides teens the opportunity to learn readily-applicable leadership skills that go beyond just camp. LITs will spend part of their time doing hands-on work at camp, such as leading games and crafts or helping camp staff with other activities. They will also learn important leadership skills such as communication, teamwork, and responsibility.
Space is limited, so we’re looking for the best applicants who complete the application and show they’re ready to grow. There is no fee to complete an application, but if selected, you’ll need to register for the LIT Summer Camp program, where registration fees apply.

Summer Mini Camps
Summer Mini Camps
Discover summer fun at the Oldham County YMCA Summer Mini Camps, held from 1-4 pm on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, during summer camp season. Each themed week offers unique activities: explore nature with hiking, creek wading, birdwatching, and plant identification; master the basics of soccer; try field hockey; or dance your heart out with ballet and creative movement. Designed for all skill levels, no prior experience or equipment is needed. With over 20 acres of beautiful land, campers will enjoy a mix of outdoor adventure, sports, and creativity. Join us for unforgettable afternoons filled with excitement, learning, and fun in the heart of Oldham County!
To participate in a mini camp session, campers must first be registered for the traditional weekly summer camp. Mini camp sessions are not available as standalone options. Pricing is per child, per week. Transportation to the mini camp is provided by the YMCA. All activities take place on the Oldham County Family YMCA campus, and campers must be ages 5-10 at the start of camp.
