Breona Stovall, a long-time YMCA member, initially saw the Y as an exercise facility until learning about the program from her sister Beonca, who enrolled her son Zeus. Breona signed up her son Kiari, who impressed leaders with his engagement and discovered a passion for art. Beonca noted Zeus’s transformation from timid to engaged, with her partner Ivan witnessing his learning progress, even teaching him dinosaur facts. Both families praised the program’s welcoming, multiracial environment, feeling enriched by diverse experiences. They formed strong bonds with teachers and other families, viewing them as lifelong friends.
